Link building can often become quite a long and laborious process for some of us that may not be so advanced as others with SEO. However, this is not the only thing that needs to be done in order to increase your position on the search engines. Once you have built your links you then need to make them actually start to work for you. This is where indexing comes in. If your links are not indexed, then they are practically worthless to you. There are two good ways to get your links indexed quickly. The first is Meta Indexing and by doing this to all of your links, you can gain hundreds, if not thousands of link backs to your main site/profile etc. The other way is to ping to all of the top RPC ping sites which will inform the search engines such as Google and Yahoo that you have new content out there to be crawled over. The only reported downside to this software is that it may not be extremely user friendly for anyone other than the experienced internet marketers. However, there are many different kinds of this software available, all doing almost the same job. Therefore, it is simply a matter of discovering the method that works best for you and sticking with it until you have perfected the technique required. Anyone that knows anything about search engine optimisation understands that link wheels are a big part of this and can have a large impact on your website and any future business that you could possibly do. When first explained to a person, link wheels can sound very confusing and seem too overwhelming to understand. When a person does not fully understand something, there is little chance that they will ever actually do it/get it done. Given a similar product or opportunity by two individuals, who do you buy from? You buy from the person who has offered the most value to you. The person who has answered your questions. The person went beyond the simple answers. The person who made themselves available to you. The person who appears to be a leader. Did you read that last sentence? “The person who appears to be a leader.”

New Consequential Strangers

A Few Years Ago
Many years ago, maybe more, a few years after I was in college anyways, I ran into an old friend I hadn’t seen in about 5 years. I had met him when I was in high school, knew who he was but never got to know personally till my summer before college started. I remember that it was right around the time I had read the book called Psycho Cybernetics by Maxwell Maltz.

Cybernetics
This 1960’s classic had at the time, a large impact on my life and even before college started I was earning some pretty good money, well more than I’ve ever had up to that time. It gave me perspective and at the time I was able to easily convey and teach some of the principals in the book. This individual didn’t know I had learned most of this from a book but I did talk about the concepts in it and after five years after I spent time with him, he told me how what I talked about had changed his life. He said he changed his life around, got focused, got rid of some of the demons that held him back, things were going good, and now had a chance to thank me. There was one problem…. Ah… what did I tell him five years ago? Even as I write I’m not sure. But I’m sure it was along the lines of that there are always going to be things that no matter how much influence you might have you have, you really have no control over.

Letting Go
Now this certainly sounds defeating, but what he then told me is that once he knew he had no control he learned to let it go. He learned to control his stress. He didn’t get mad at things. He made a conscience decision to ENJOY life, and at the time he was happy, optimistic about his future, and looked forward to tackling anything that got in his way. I eventually fell into back into the trap of the 40-40 plan (40 hours a week for 40 years), and commenced to go to college. I was re-conditioned to what we are taught where getting a good education, then job, would make us happy. I later found I would like to learn the lesson back from him but I haven’t seen him in 30 years. I suspect he took what he had learned from me and took action. If I only would have…

Today
Fast forward to today, now even though he was just one person I knew those many years ago, we had made differences in each others lives. His experience with me at the time, to me, was inconsequential. He was just another person I met, spent a little time with, and we then went our own ways. I really have no idea whatever became of him, nor me to him. Back in those days we where limited by the number of people we could meet. Of course this is much more in a larger city than a rural city but you were limited by the physical ability to personally meet. Enter the age of the internet. We are going to have the possibility of not only meeting people from our own local locations but globally as well. You have the ability to meet new people who you can influence with your knowledge and experience and likewise with theirs.

Questions
So the only questions are how many new people are you going to meet online? How many are you going to influence? How many are going to influence you? Are you going to share something life changing with them? Who’s the next consequential meeting going to be with? What is the message you want to share?

Take The Leap

One of my favorite movies of the past 20 years actually was considered a box office flop but later gained a cult following. It featured the first pairing of Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan. It was called “Joe vs the Volcano”.Joe Banks worked in a job where routinely day after day people acted like drones and went in to do their job. One day when he went to the doctor he was diagnosed with a “Brain Cloud”. He was told that it was terminal and he would have a very short time to live. After contemplation he was convinced by a person that he would be given very large amount of cash if in the end before he would die, he would jump into a volcano in a far away island. So he lived a life of luxury and eventually set out to go to the island. On the way he met Patricia and fell in love with her. They ran into a storm and the boat sank but they were saved by his luggage that he tied together. They ended up awash on the shore of the destination island. After a party by the natives Joe was supposed to go up the volcano and appease the gods according to the local customs. Patricia decided to go with Joe and jump together. While on the way up Patricia figured out that Joe had a fictitious disease and wasn’t dying after all. Well they had to make the decision to jump. Was Joe going to jump anyways because his life would be no worse off than that of slaving away in his job? The girl he loved was going to jump with him. So they jumped. They decided they weren’t going to go half way, they were going to go for it, hell or high water. The volcano ended up blowing them out about a mile into the ocean and somehow that same luggage mysteriously appeared for them. They were alive and happy in the end.

The movie was very symbolic. The only color and piece of individualism in the office where Joe worked was Joe’s lamp he kept it in a drawer till he came into the office. This was quickly quashed by his boss. When Joe had made the decision to live like a king and die like a man, he said “There are certain times in your life when I guess you’re not supposed to have anyone, you know..certain doors you gotta go through alone.”

You gotta go through alone… Hmm… It may effect your family but it really is a decision that has to originate from you. How many of us are at that road or door? How many of us even notice that there is even a door we could go through? How many of us are living drones going through the paces day after day hypnotized by the media and politicians that determine what is best for us? How many of us all of a sudden are approaching retirement and have yet to live? I’ve said before that most people will choose unhappiness over uncertainty, so most never even try anything with even a hint of risk. Well no wonder Joe took the plunge. His supposed demise was not going to be any worse than his dreary existence, though he now had Patricia.

I’ve spent to many years in Corporate America and I’ve made the commitment to get out. Completely out. I want to visit the world, I want to be able run on the beaches of the world while I still can run. I don’t want to wait till I’m 65 1/2. I want to visit places and stay as long as I feel like. I want to share with my wife helping children in orphanages. I want to live. There are too many opportunities out there where you can either simplify your life, slow down and smell the coffee, start part time businesses that make full time income, all while being able to do it anywhere you can get an internet connection. The sweet thing about it, is that the businesses you start can be about the things you are highly interested in and passionate about. Do you see the face of your boss more than your children and wife? Are you looking for something else? Are you ready to make that symbolic leap of faith?
