Corn Is Not A Vegetable

Birke Baehr is 11 years old. He has a presentation on one of the largest businesses in the world, corn. Corn represents one of our largest lobby groups in the United States. In many states and many parts of the country it is the backbone of their economies. But is big CORN all that good for you. Big CORN has become an Industry to reckon with. Big-box agriculture also has it’s defenders as it is also one of the highest subsidized crops.

I’m not sure an 11 year old is that economically and nutritionally aware so in a way I’m against using children to push political points of view, however, if it is free of politics, and based on nutrition, he is spot on. Truth be told, corn is not a vegetable. Monsanto’s idea of “food safety” includes genetically engineered food, hormones, pesticides, antibiotics, or slaughterhouse waste, all of which are toxic.

Recipe For Successful Branding

We all know that blogging and other marketing campaigns can really help us build up the buzz behind our brand. We know our goals are also similar in that we want to get people talking and spreading the story about our products and services. But it is going to take more than just blogging and marketing to make this kind of effort pay off. There are three main ingredients that help build and establish our number one goal for personal branding, Trust! We want to establish the kind of trust that will create a positive reaction in our clients and customers. The products and services that we offer need to have:

Quality
While branding builds the recognition for your product, that product or service must have superior quality needed to evoke strong positive emotions in your customers. Your brand cannot gain positive brand recognition if your products and services are don’t offer the kind of quality needed to elicit strong trust in your customers and clients.

Excellent Service
We recognize that customer service is everything in business and know it has been for a long time. When building a strong personal brand, customer service can increase word-of-mouth advertising. So this, in turn, boosts referrals and helps your brand to grow even that much more. Even in businesses that have no product or service that is sold directly, like blogging for a living, remember that customer service still is extremely important. The bottom line is that people will trust the authority of your blog if the posts are written with authority and integrity. A way that you can also build authority and integrity is with timely and well thought out responses to comments from the readers of your blog.

Value
And finally comes value. Value is a growing buzz word with customers and clients these days. If your product or service comes at a price, you have to make sure your buyers get the value they are after. Value should not mean cheap. It should mean quality for the price point. Even the information that you provide for free should have tremendous value. The information you share and provide needs to be accurate, informative, or entertaining. You want your readers to feel like they have gained some insight and have not wasted their time by visiting and reading. If they like the value, whether it is for free or purchasing a product and service from you, they will visit and buy from you once again.

Personal branding builds on all these important and key ingredients in a successful business and puts them in a package that your customers and clients can readily identify with. When you offer rock solid service, impressive quality and value, your products and services will begin to speak loudly. So later down the line when you have new products or services, they will be much more likely to have strong footing in the marketplace solely because of the brand you have built. This personal branding thus enables you to build on your previous successes and allows you to grow your customer and client base. Once this strong personal brand it set up, launching new offerings will become much more effective.

House on Marketing

Hey, do you all know the character on the FOX network’s show called House? Hugh Laurie plays an eccentric, grumpy, though poignant, and articulate, doctor lacking in bedside manner. In talking to friends and other people, I’ve found that either you like his character or you hate him. He has a condescending and somewhat biting style that pierces and cuts to the chase. But is his demeanor really brash? I like to think he’s saying what others are thinking. In the end, he always is the one who diagnoses the ailment and saves the day or should I say patient? Does it matter how he accomplished his goal, to save a life?

Being Honest
How’s this related to marketing? Well we all have first of all have to be honest with our potential customers, affiliates, and others about our products and most importantly, the chances of success when joining our network marketing organizations. Are the promises of 25,000 dollars a month realistic? Are the fist-full’s of cash and Lamborghinis realistic? Is it really turn key and does it only require a limited amount of knowledge? Does it grow itself without any human interaction? Is the marketing really provided by someone else?

Promises and Reality
We all know the promises and even after years in the business, we are still somewhat seeking the ‘Holy Grail’, so to speak. There are even examples of diamonds in the rough of those who have had their dreams realized. But as Dr. House would say:

1. Your prospects really don’t care what you have to say, really!
2. When you’re selling an Network opportunity, the product is secondary!
3. Logic does not win the day when it comes to motivating someone to enter your business.
4. People listen to and respond to hearing negative things.
5. Most people are highly skeptical about the industry.
6. 97% of everyone who starts an online business fails.

Just Tell the Truth
So just as Dr. House can save the day, what or how can you save the day or bottom line when it comes to attracting prospects as your customer or affiliate? Being honest can go far. Choosing the correct marketing style and tactics can go far. Implementing strategies that speak to the items Dr. House espoused above will go far. We don’t need to be as brash as Dr. House when explaining the honest realities of our industry, but we do need to address them. By doing so we can attract prospects with our honesty, and additionally weed out the meek tire kickers by making them aware of the work involved with having your own online business. I think Dr. House would make it big in the network marketing industry.

Content Is King – Learn What To Write About

Content, SEO, Writing, Blogging, Value, How-To, Tip-n-Tricks,TrafficI know a lot of people out there are getting online to somehow start making some money because they have aspirations of firing their boss, staying at home to raise their own kids, supplementing their incomes or retirements, and to nurture their entrepreneurial spit that hides in each and everyone one of them.  If they’ve done their due-diligence they should know there’s a lot more than meets the eye and have partnered up or found someone to emulate to teach them the ropes.  Even then, the bottom line on how successful anyone is going to be in this industry is how much traffic they can generate and how they convert that traffic into sales.

I just noticed that what I’m about to say rhymes but maybe it will help to remember.  That is “The number ONE thing, is that CONTENT is king”.  I heard it said just last week by an online millionaire.  Content for me means, blog posts, ezine articles, videos, reviews about others content, and comments on others content.  I know a large part of the landscape in social media is Twitter, but it may be possible to convey some content, but 140 words won’t cut it in my book.  Twitter is used as the communication channel to tell, educate, and inform others about content that is educational, interesting, and teaches something.  It is merely the communication channel.

Content does not have to be eloquent prose.  It simply has to state some facts, why you agree with or not, why you think it’s important, and what YOUR perspective about them.  The exact same topic should be different than what others write because it will be from YOUR perspective.  If you’ve discovered something that really helped you, write about it.  You have a different perspectives and the people who read your material will appreciate it because they may be just learning, just like you are.  As we speak there are tens of thousands of people a day coming on to the internet to find their fortune. You can be their guide.

So another way I come up with content.  Whatever your niche is going to be, come up with 75-100 keywords about it.   Keywords are going to be your nouns and verbs of the nomenclature of your niche.  As an example I’ll use a niche called marketing.  Here are ten keywords that would be expected  to find  for this niche.  (affiliate, article. auto responder, back link, banner, blog, business model, central hub, and content).  So with those 10 words mathematically I could write about 90+ combination of those  keywords.  Here are about 10 titles you could use from those 10. Attracting Affiliates With Back links.  Do I need An Autoresponder For Affiliate Marketing? Using Back links In Your Article Marketing.  Can Blogging Attract Affiliates For You?  What Kind of Banner To Use On Your Blog.  Using Keywords On Your Blog.  Using Keywords In Your Article Marketing.  The Key to Your Business Model – A Central Hub How To Write Blog Content.

So there I came up with 10.  You get the idea.  There is no reason you can’t come up with 75+ keywords for your niche.  Think them through.  Go to ezinearticles.com and pick the 10 most read articles in your niche and look for them there.  Use a thesaurus and find them.  Then think of as many combination of key words as possible.  An advantage to using multiple keywords in a title is Google will rank them higher.  Then sit down and write.  Step away when your done.  Reread it and check for grammatical errors then post it.  Your done.  I did this one in about 20 minutes.  Went down an had a drink of water and chatted with my daughter, came up to my office and proofed it.  There is no reason not to have content.  Now have at it! Vilfredo Pareto

80-20 Rule, Optimize, Pareto's Law, Efficiency, Pie GraphWhen starting an internet business one of the things that I think we all struggled with to some extent, is where to spend the majority of our time. There were so many things that we had to figure out. We had products or opportunities, market demographics, determining niches, marketing strategies, auto-responders, capture pages, sales pages, web sites, blogs, social media, fulfillment, phones, fax, etc… to worry about. Then to make things worse, while doing research to find information and recommendations on all of those things, we ended up finding that there are a thousand other choices we had to make. We started wondering if it is all worth it and saw other opportunities that somehow seemed a little bit easier than what our original choice had been. Bottom line, it’s was and still is easy to get distracted.

Another factor that we end up with is having to deal with the 80-20 rule otherwise known as the Pareto Principal. Vilfredo Pareto was an Italian economist who observed that 80% of the land was owned by 20% of the population. This later was expanded and is true for many things. A popular business axiom is that 80% of our sales come from 20% of the business. The one we (especially new entrepreneurs) have to worry about is that we ended up spending 80% of our time on things that don’t contribute to the bottom line. We need to concentrate on the 20% and refine it as much as possible. So how do we go about that?

The first things that that we need to do is prioritize our tasks and spend 80% of our time on the top 20% of that pile. I literally used to have a boss who taught me to take my “in basket”, back when email wasn’t as prevalent, sort it by importance with the most important on top and work from the top. There were items that never got attended to. The people requesting things figured out where to get their answers from someone else or they did their own research. The long term consequences were that people started relying on me for important items because I gave them the attention they needed and the minutia of the daily grind went somewhere else. I ended up getting higher visibility in management’s eyes, got noticed and was handsomely rewarded come review time.

You can do the same thing managing your own business. You may not have the luxury of ridding yourself of the daily minutia, but you can automate it, pay someone to automate it, pay someone to deal with it, or even, getting rid of it altogether. You need to be spending as much time as possible on those actions that give you 80% of your income. You need to outsource or automate as many routine or mundane tasks that you have to perform. By practicing these principals and understanding Pareto’s Law, the bottom line on your balance sheet at the end of the year will reward you.

What is a Leader?

Leadership, Influence, Success, Character, Knowledge, Experience, IntuitionLeadership is often misunderstood. First of all, it is not a title or an assigned position. A true leader can’t be awarded, appointed, or assigned. Leadership comes from influence and it can only be earned. Know that leading and managing are not the same. Leadership is about influencing people to follow, and management focuses on maintaining systems and processes. An education and high IQ will not assure your leadership as well. One who is out front in an endeavor is not a leader.

So what makes a leader? It’s someone who has heavy influence in their specialized area because of their character, their relationships, their knowledge, their intuition, their experience, their past success, and their ability is what makes a leader. It is these factors that influence others to follow. Leadership is earned, not given.

Do you have strong influence in these areas?
Are there ways you could improve them?
Do the people you work with, customers, family, see you as a leader?
Could becoming a leader increase your bottom line?

Taking Actions Daily – Where to you stand?

In a recent study conducted by ThinkTQ, a training and publication organization, illustrated how people develop strategies for achieving their own success and dreams. This is what the data found and concluded:

1. 26% focus on tangible targets they want in life.
2. 19% set goals aligned with their purpose, mission, and passion.
3. 15% write down their goals in specific measurable detail.
4. 12% maintain a clearly defined goal for every major interest and goal in life.
5. 12% identify daily, weekly, and long term goals with deadlines.
6. 7% take daily action towards their attainment of at least one goal.

The bottom line is people take very little priority which equates to ACTION to achieve their goals.

So your questions to ask yourself:

1. Do you have a goal or dream?
2. Have you written down your goals?
3. Have you broken down one of your dreams into tangible measurable tasks?
4. Are you acting on them daily?

Using target=”_blank” In Your HTML Links

I made a video this morning showing how to use target=”_blank” in HTML “a href” links. The bottom line is it will increase the probability of people returning back to your site. We need to increase the odds and this certainly helps quite a bit.
