These are gret tip Chris and totally the core to SEO. I never thought of doing the Meta Data with a direct response format. I think I am going to test that out too.

Hey Chris,
Thanks for the post. You do a great job with a very complicated subject. I'm impressed that you stepped up to the plate. This subject is always so controversial.
Here is a cool tool that your readers might like to check out. It gives you a "Spider's View" of any website. http://www.webmaster-toolkit.com/search-engine-simulator.shtml
Just plug in your URL and it spits out what your site looks like to the search engine spiders. Content Rules!

I still use keywords regardless of what Google says, others might still put weight on them, and it's not a big deal to include them anyway. So what if Google doesn't use them, they only do so because they are not definitive indicators of what's on the page. Google scans the page and produces it's own set of keywords, so embedding the keywords within the content is now more important.

Plus, now that Google does this, Google can now determine if the context of the keywords is accurate, and not spammy, due to comparisons they can do against other pages of content. If yours stands out like a sore thumb, I'd say it will be flagged.

But, I could be way wrong. Who knows how Google truely operates, right?

All the best!

Well, your article is directed towards "optimizing for Google" because "It's the way to go", so thats why I pointed this out.

Technically speaking you are absolutely right about social sites etc. but my expectations is that the viability on relying on social media is going to drop drastically because the amount of abuse is horrible. The spammers are more determined than proper sites are, destroying web 2.0 faster than it became popular.

In the end, active and dynamic real life content will win back the top highlight for SEO, just like it was 2 years ago.

On a positive note, good to see that you use your blog for productive and not self serving purposes.

PS. another prediction: Bing will surpass Google's ability to produce a more accurate search result that will be more fruitful for ad based sites generating revenue with real content.

Thanks Drew. Yes I am aware that Google did away with using the tags due to misuse of them. While they don't have any weight to them, neither are they ignored. They can and are used by some of the social media sites to help index and categorize the content, which in turn can help offsite optimization.

I appreciate your feedback.
