Power of Expectation – High Five!

October 21st, 2011

What is the usual outcome when someone someone complements you on a job well done? When you accomplish something good? When you achieve something that you’ve been working on for a long period of time? When you even do something simple that keeps you focused on your goals?

Is it, “Oh, it was nothing.” or “Just doing my job.” or “It’s no big deal.” ? That’s what most do. Or they do nothing. They diminish their own success. They feel somewhat embarrassed and try and change the subject quickly.

How you handle successes, even small ones, are just as important as what you do with your failures.

Now there is no question that we learn best by infusing information via several mediums, visual, auditory, reading, and even physical, and by repeating them over a 28 day period, have the ability to reprogram ones thinking.

So try this out for 28 days. For each and every little success you have starting with getting out of bed, clench your fist, pull it, and say “YES!”. If there are others around, do a high five with them. Do a fist bump. Something physical that gives you a feeling of accomplishment, raises your attentiveness, and otherwise makes you feel good. Go ahead and try it right now. Don’t you feel better? Careful with belly bucking and head butts!

Another thing to do after having your mini-celebration is to tell yourself that you earned this, that you deserved this, because you were prepared. Take ownership of the success.

Then use that feeling to tell yourself that this is just the beginning. Your starting the day off right? Use this first success to launch your day, your week, your month, your life.

So if you make a call to someone with the goal of setting an appointment and you achieve those results, high five! Someone calls you and gives you a referral, high five! You close a deal, high five!

What happens is you will have a aura of expectation and will come to expect good things to happen. This will provide you energy beyond belief and others will feel this energy emanate from you. The world will as well. Going to the mall? Go to the front row, there will be a parking place waiting for you. Need to get a hold of someone? They will call you. Closing a sale? No problemo.

Your business can be great. Your marriage can be great. Your life can be great. High Five!

Six Degrees of Separation

October 8th, 2011

While driving home from a youth football game on Saturday I flipped through a few radio stations and it was half time at the local college football game. The announcer said, we’ll be right back with Harvey McKay, of the “Swimming With The Sharks” book fame. This was half time of a football game so I was wondering how long they could interview Harvey.

I was pleasantly surprised when they resumed from a commercial and after providing a brief background on Mr McKay, the announcer said that because we they were short on time, he could only ask one question. He said, “Mr. McKay, what has been your number one, your most important factor to your success?”

Over the next minute and a half, Mr. McKay said it was his “Network”. He said from his first years in his career he had a Rolodex, now on his computer, of around 2000 people. He said that everybody knows around an average of 200 people. So he said if those 2000 know 200 and those know 200 you have a potential of 10’s of millions of people. Basically he said understanding and using the principal of the 6 degrees of separation can not only make you millions, but put you in a position where you have a lot of influence.

Do you have a database of contacts?
What do you do to grow it?
What kind of influence do you want to be known for?

Have a remarkable day!

Vision To Live By – Part Two

May 8th, 2011

So last time we found that the American Dream isn’t what it used to be. We are in the age of over-borrowing, bankruptcy, loss of jobs, and financial instability. You may be staggering with the pressure of keeping your head above water. Trying to forecast what we have in the future can even stump the best of economists so we often find that we are trapped in a fiscal roller coaster that’s run amuck. As I concluded last time, there has to be a better way.

There is good news however. This doesn’t have to be you. Even when times are tough you can provide a safe haven for you and your family. You can free yourself from the mercy of unpredictable markets. But you may be wondering what is this and if it was that easy why isn’t everyone doing it? The main answer is the job myth. We have been led to believe that the only way to get anywhere is by working for someone else. It has been so ingrained into us that even the possibility of not having a job is scary. But having a job in today’s market does not always mean security. If you are relying on a job as your family’s lifeline you may be more vulnerable than you think. The answer?

The answer is your own full or part time business. A business of your own is essential to stability in a tough economy. Since you are your own boss, you can choose the hours you generate business and can still have time for your family and friends. Having extra or replaceable income will give you a piece of mind that a job just can’t guarantee.

One of the taboos that exist is that starting your own business is expensive to start up. It is true that start up costs for a store or restaurant are high but that’s because a brick and mortar building does cost a lot. However, if you start a business that you can start up from home you can significantly reduce your costs.

Another myth is that people don’t buy during recessionary times. This may be true for luxuries but people still have to by essentials such as food and other products that allow them to remain healthy. Remaining healthy is more important during these times because stress can effect your health and we are all too aware of of rising health care costs.

So the bottom line is that the advantages far outweigh any of the other options. Folks, it’s gut check time. Certainly there are fears that you may have to overcome, questions you have to do research on, and decisions you have to make. But remember, what you choose to do and how you do them will effect your future. As the old Rush song says, “Not to choose is still making a choice.”

The ideal business will be one where you collaborate with people you enjoy and can respect. One where the products are in demand now and in the future. One that is in a growing industry. One that is effective. One that is easy to market. One where you can start earning income right from the start.

Are you going to sit back and let politicians and other economic influences dictate your lifestyle and happiness? Are you ready to take control? The unfortunate thing is that most won’t even try. Most will sit back and let life pass them by for 40 hours a week for 40 years only to get their Timex watch and then slowly retire broke on their safe path to their grave. If you’d like to have a brief short conversation about expanding your potential and get on track to help you family’s situation and others, I’d be glad to speak with you. Your family deserves it. Click the Contact Chris up above and leave your phone number. I look forward to speaking with you.

Create Your Own Culture

April 21st, 2011

I’m a recovering left brain thinker. If I was a Star Trek character Spock would come to mind. Going online or elsewhere to find and recruit people into your business requires tenacity, smarts, best practices, and even some luck. Bottom line is that you need to network. Now there are a lot of good companies out there. Network marketing has created more millionaires than any other industry. It’s also the entrepreneurs paradise where you get paid strictly on your production. It will either make you or break you. It will expose any weaknesses you may have. Shore them up, and you can become successful. As Jeffrey Combs has said to many people when asked the question, and I’m paraphrasing here, “How much does the average person make in MLM?” he will respond that it’s next to nothing. He’ll say you need to reach and strive above “average”. Above average in your thoughts, dreams, actions, networking, charisma, training, etc is what will lead to success. Most of that list requires right brain thinking. So far so good.

So with all the great companies out there, what differentiates them. Well, not a whole lot. The above average can succeed in just about any of them. What does differentiate them however, is their culture. By culture I mean the access to training and personal development, lead generation, webinars, seminars, edification, reproducibility, mindset, encouragement, and many others. Any good company or organization within a company, should have these. They should have them for free. So company culture can attract a lot of people to an opportunity.

Even more, having a team culture where you have team meetings and events, not necessarily company sponsored is where you can differentiate yourself in both what other companies do but even in your own company. Having your own team contests and bonuses can expand your business volume and growth. But even beyond business, you’ve chosen to work with people who are like minded and are striving for the same types of goals you are. There was something about you. You had something in you that attracted them. Sure they like the opportunity, but they choose you. You see the people you are going into business with and the leaders you surround yourself with also will become just like family. Over the years your families will share, learn, and conquer together. You will see each others families grow. This growth will not only be in business, it will be in just about everything you do. Your finances, family, dreams, and outlooks. You will share things like vacations and travel, fishing, flying, balloon rides, charities, and developing people. Explaining and getting people into their dreamspace, their why, and opening yourself to the possibilities will not only make you better than average, it will allow you to soar with the eagles.
