The more narrowed your scope, the better chance you have at striking your potential prospects and buyers chords.  When using too broad a scope you then have to be everything to everyone.  You end up not satisfying or providing anything of value to anyone.  I might add, marketing to everyone can also be mighty expensive.</p>
<p>I always like to use niches that are subsets of broader niches or some that have a very common thread.  Let&#8217;s say you are marketing a health and wellness opportunity and products.  This in of itself is a very large industry, and some would even say saturated.  I would approach it by using the premise that people who are health conscious buy supplements, nutrients, and vitamins items that enhance, prevent, and increase their health.  That being said, they probably would buy items such as water purifiers, air purifiers, exercise equipment, health club memberships, travel packages, etc.  Finding people and companies that market these products may already have a huge list of past customers and/or people on their mailing lists.  What&#8217;s to stop you from mutually sharing each others lists, and/or even proposing them to join you in your business.  This would be another revenue stream for them that is not in direct competition with their products.  Be creative.</p>
<p>The relationships between niches is similar to the 6 degrees of separation.  I&#8217;ll explore some of these relationships next time and open the world of possibilities.</p>

There are literally thousands of people who realized the power of this method of backlinking benefiting from page one backlinks on sites with Pagerank of 6, 7 etc. It truly is quite easy too. As long as you like writing (you do not have to be the <img class="alignright size-medium wp-image-895" src="http://www.chriskilber.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/Backlinks-on-Page-One-of-a-site-300x279.jpg" alt="" width="235" height="218" />best writer in the world, and typos are allowed!) or have a great outsourcer who is worth their salt.</p>
<p>For a while now, many top bloggers have used a plugin called Top Commentators, which is a widget that sits in the sidebar of a site. It sits on every page, however, so this is immediately powerful for the links that are in that Top Commentators widget. The prerequisite to get into that box is you must be making valid and worthwhile comments on the blog, and you should also be in the post count of the top 10 or 15 people. So if the number 10 spot has 5 posts, you need to write 5 posts that week/month – depending on how the blog operates.</p>
<p>You can use different anchor texts for different blogs. You can put your name, or your website name – the blogs do not care, as long as you are adding valuable and fresh content to their blogs. This is not spam – you are collaborating with the owner of the site – and they welcome you with open arms – and even throw in an awesome backlink to boot.</p>
<p>To find these cool blogs that allow you to advertise on their home page, you simply need to go to Google, and type in the following:</p>

<p>based on one original keyword. You type in a keyword, and automagically, you get a load of suggestions live from search engines like Google and Ask. Here, we will type in “hosted” and “hosted autoresponder”, to try and generate suggestions. Get these all written down on Excel if possible, as that will help later. Have each modifier and keyword in a separate column. So ‘hosted’ would be in column 1, ‘autoresponder’ column 2 etc. Don’t forget to find modifiers for your main keyword. Autoresponder’s actually go by the name of ‘email responder’ etc. So we can add that to the list. Check this keyword in Soovle too. You would find modifiers like “system”, and “automatic” for “email responder” for example. Add any other keywords that your product or service are known by. You should be able to generate a fairly large list.</p>
<p>Now, you should have around three or four columns to work from. You will now check you’ve covered all your bases by using a keyword modifier tool called  <a href="http://www.keywordlizard.com/">Keyword Lizard</a>. Enter your columns of keywords &amp; modifiers, and check the appropriate boxes if you need to. For example, if this exercise is for your Adwords campaign, use Step 4 &amp; 5 of the tool. Otherwise, simply let it do its stuff, and modify the whole list.</p>
<p>From this quick exercise, you will generate hundreds of keywords. Different permutations will give better/worse monthly searches – but they are all worthy of being included if they get ‘some’ searches… remember, sometimes it’s better to have 10 keywords getting 100 searches per month, than trying to rank for a keyword that has 1000 searches… but heavy competition.</p>

You can know everything there is to know about a niche and then when it comes time to brainstorm ten off the top of your head for an article, or for a press release, you are stumped, and white page syndrome sets in. This is because you can often be too close to the subject, to actually see what the real underlying keywords are. Sure, you could probably reel off some beauties, though try competing with anyone on Google and you will struggle. To get good quality sub-niche keywords you gotta dig deep!</p>
<p>So what’s all the ‘<em>Brick Relish</em>’ about? Well, Brick Relish is actually an anagram <img class="alignright size-full wp-image-875" src="http://www.chriskilber.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/keyword-research-modifiers.jpg" alt="" width="240" height="240" />of my name – Chris Kilber&#8230; <em>and ten whole points go to the person who spotted that first</em>. The reason I have used an anagram, is to just remind you that at first glance, words can be just that – words. To make them worth something, and stand out, you have to <strong>modify</strong> them. Keywords can be modified in many ways, to make them more appealing, and of course get more traffic. Let&#8217;s look at how we can modify a keyword.</p>
<p>As an example, we will look at the niche of internet marketing, and specifically <strong>autoresponders</strong>. Imagine you had a site that reviews the best autoresponders, and you are trying to sell these to internet marketers as an affiliate. Right away, your brain is thinking of all the keywords surrounding autoresponders, when in fact what you need to do is look at keywords that can be <strong>attached</strong> to the main keyword. With some niches, it’s easy to think of keywords that can be attached, such as locations, sizes, colors etc. – like “lawyers <strong>Connecticut</strong>” or “<strong>small</strong> ladies boat shoes” as examples. With something like autoresponders, you can do the same, you just need to know WHO the product is used by&#8230;</p>
<ul>
<li>Are people looking for cheap or cost effective autoresponders?</li>
<li>Are people looking for hosted or standalone autoresponders?</li>
<li>Are people looking for subscription based or one-off purchase software autoresponders?</li>
</ul>
<p>The answer to all of those questions, of course, is YES! People are looking for all of the above, so you need modifiers for all of them. Let’s take hosted/standalone autoresponders, and start with three main niche keyphrases:-</p>
<ul>
<li>Hosted autoresponder</li>
<li>Server side autoresponder</li>
<li>Autoresponder software</li>
</ul>

Netscape originally developed RSS to distribute news headlines and then abandoned the concept due to the lack of popularity. In recent years RSS has become the standard for content syndication. RSS syndication has allowed for smaller content providers to gain exposure and increase their news and content distribution. The increased exposure has evened the playing field for content providers.</p>
<p><span id="more-828"></span><b>RSS Directories</b><br />
In the same way there are site directories on the internet there are RSS directories as well. The more your content gets submitted the more links to your content plain and simple. What should you submit? All of it. Take the RSS out of your Blog site, all of your social media sites, all of your book marking sites, and any place you have backlinks.</p>
<p><b>Submission Toos</b><br />
Where should you do it? Every place you can. Now here’s where you’re going to need some software to do this tedious task. Sorry, but this is tedious but you only have to do it once. There is a freebie but it is somewhat limited. (<a href="http://www.allscoop.com/tools/rsssubmit/">http://www.allscoop.com/tools/rsssubmit/</a>) Ideally, you want something that goes to more that just these limited number of sites. The best one out there is called RSS Submit but is a hefty $114. It can be found at <a href="http://just-ask-kim.com/recommends/rsssubmit">http://www.dummysoftware.com/rsssubmit.html</a>. My recommendation, share the cost across a content syndication group.</p>

Here’s really a great way to stretch and use your content by using multiple media formats.  Think of it this way.  After you’ve just got done writing a post for your Blog, while everything still is in your thoughts, click on your flip video camera and click the record button.  Now I’m not saying to read it verbatim, but basically paraphrase what you just wrote.  It only needs to be 3-4 minutes.  This will allow you to emphasize and elaborate on some things contained in the written version.  It will give the exact same content some life.  </p>
<p><span id="more-816"></span><b>Video Syndication</b><br />
Then shoot it up to www.Youtube.com or ultimately to www.TubeMogul.com.  TubeMogul is a site that shoots the video out to 25 different video sites.  You do have to go sign up for the 25 sites first and there is a little bit of learning curve, but I know you can do it.  It’s only once though.  </p>
<p>One thing you always want to do in the description of ANY video that goes anywhere is provide the full url to your Blog on a separate line.  Anyone who sees a video done by you will also see the link to your Blog.  The link also acts as SEO link juice and backlink from a highly PR rates website. </p>
<p><b>Powerpoint</b><br />
Next, you can make a PowerPoint presentation of your Blog post.  This really may only be 2-3 pages of some bullets outlining your written post.  Then launch your Cam Studio (A cool freebie), Camtasia, or Jing, with the outline of your Powerpoint Presentation and talk into the mike and give a talk simply walking down each bullet.  If you create a nice presentation, and end up having a series of them, you have a product.</p>
<p><b>Rinse and Repeat</b><br />
Next, take that same outline in the Powerpoint Presentation and write two or three sentences different from your original post.  It’s basically another version of your original, go to Squidoo, paste that new copy into a Lens Link in one of the videos, make sure you have back links to your Blog.</p>
<p>You don’t always have to do it for every post, but you can if you want.  You can mix and match and rotate around what you do but the crux of the concept is to re-purpose the content.</p>
<p><b>Use Your Tribe for Hyperdrive</b><br />
As always, if you are in a content syndication group, make sure to have them syndicate and comment on your external content as well.   A large syndication group could put this into hyperdrive.</p>

<p><strong>SEO Friendly Images</strong><br />
SEO Friendly Images is a WordPress plugin that will automatically update your new images with the correct ALT and TITLE attributes. If your images do not have (ALT and TITLE) already set, SEO Friendly Images will add them based on the options you set in the settings. This will also make the post W3C/xHTML valid.</p>
<p>ALT attribute is important part of search engine optimization. It describes your image to search engine and when a user searches for a certain image this is a key determining factor for a match.</p>
<p>TITLE attribute will have a lessor role but is important for visitors as this text will appear in the tooltip when mouse is moved over the image.  It can actually be quite verbose if so chosen.  In fact as an example, check out the image I have in the upper right hand corner of this post.</p>
<p><strong>SEO Smart Links</strong><br />
SEO Smart Links searches for keyword phrases that match the titles of your posts and pages and these phrases are then turned into the links.  You also have the option of creating links for your tags and categories.  The matching is case insensitive and the original case is preserved.  There are examples in the first paragraph of this post.  The words Site Optimization and WordPress plugins are also links to tags of this blog.</p>
<p>Everything happens transparently and you can be edited in the options from the administration settings panel.</p>
<p><strong>SEO Super Comments</strong><br />
The complet concept behind this plugin is presented in <a href="http://www.prelovac.com/vladimir/presenting-seo-super-comments-concept" target="_blank">Presenting SEO Super Comments Concept</a> which explains it in much more detail.</p>
<p>For each user comment that gets created a new dynamic page on the blog, holding the actual comment information will be generated. This page will not actually exist in the database, but will be created dynamically using this WordPress plugin.</p>
<p>This then makes the site&#8217;s comments visible to search engines. This is possible because blog comments are crawlable, indexable and rankable content!   So by just implementing this plugin, your comments will get crawled and indexed.</p>
