Be Passionate About Life and Business

November 15th, 2011

First, thanks for taking the time to read this. Over the next few days you will find some solid and grounded strategies for making things happen when it comes to talking with new prospects. To accomplish this effectively one has to talk from a position of strength. You are the CEO of your business. Most importantly, you need to focus on the person you are talking to.

In most situations you may deal with a person who is a private individual and is the CEO of their specific household or domain. What I’d like to hone in on is CEO’s, TOP decision makers, and people who have high influence on people. The “Jane Doe’s” down the block may know a few people, but targeting in on people of influence can greatly affect your business success where the probably of growth can be highly elevated. But to succeed at a level that a CEO lives, practices, and thrives at, require many key attitudes and traits. Your ability to project these characteristics are essential.

Be Passionate About Life and Business
When you get up in the morning are you excited by the opportunity that the day will bring? There are only 1,440 minutes, 86,400 seconds in a day that once are gone, can’t be given back. One has to seize the day, carpe diem. Passion fills everything one must do each day in both their personal and business lives. Be grateful for each and every day. Ask yourself if you are passionate about your life. If not, figure out the things you have to do to get that way. Then work on them.

Till next time.

Trading Time For Dollars

October 29th, 2011

This is a reoccurring theme you’ll find with not only me but I think everywhere. Unfortunately, it’s something engrained on us by society via our education system, our parents, and by our internal need for predictability in our lives. The statistics say that 7 out of every 10 people have strong dissatisfaction with their own jobs and if given a chance to be their own boss in their own entrepreneurial setting they would jump on the idea. But most have a fear of not having security. They are trading security for freedom. They are trading time for money. Is this the smartest thing they could do?

So just about everyone grudgingly work at jobs they have and become victims of their self-fulfilling prophecies that they have to work (trade hours) to make money. The truth is that you can replace that job and liberate your life to achieve real freedom. It does not have to be elusive.

Here is the case in point. Given the following observations isn’t it time to consider changing your thoughts of trading time for dollars working at your “not so rewarding job”.

Consider these five powerful reasons to manifest thoughts of freeing the precious time that you have been trading for a not-so-rewarding job.

Does it ever end: Your need for money forces you into a cycle of work, eat, sleep, and live for the weekend or a vacation once a year? It’s your craving for more money rather than enough that victimizes your thoughts. It ends up becoming your life, “keeping up with the Jones”, so to speak. You end up engaging time in your job you are dissatisfied with, only to buy a larger home, a BMW, flat screen TV’s, designer clothes, that requires you to have to work even more.

How much do you make: You really don’t make the money you think you do. Our government takes half of your paycheck in various taxes before you even see your first dime. You have federal taxes, state taxes, local taxes, property taxes, social security, that about to 40% of every dollar. High income earners are that way because they work for themselves to build passive income that grows tax-free.

Are Your Goals Yours: When you trade your time for dollars, it’s your boss who determines your agenda, your work, what you do, what time you eat, and even when you can go to the bathroom, for that measly paycheck. On the other hand, as your own boss, you have the freedom to determine your own future. One that matters most to you and your family. One where by working on your goals you can achieve your dreams, no matter what they are.

Risk: You would be amazed at the number of people that believe the myth that there is safety and security in their job. We are now aware of outsourcing, downsizing, and no business too big to fail. And because we are in a global economy, there will always be someone who will do your job for less money. There is no insurance for your position.

Reliance on You: You can be a huge success as a surgeon, lawyer, or whatever, but your income is strictly based on the time you spend doing it. If you were to get disabled and be unable to perform your duty, chances are your income would suffer. So only as long as you are working for your boss, will you get a paycheck.

You have the power in you to move away from this treadmill by starting to take responsibility right now for your own future. The leap into being your own boss may be a lot at first so you do have the ability to do it on a part time basis till your own income is replaced.

• Daily habits. You cannot achieve instant success overnight. The old saying is that you are what you do daily. You need to take inventory of the things you do daily and ask yourself if they are things that move you toward your freedom, or away. Make adjustments accordingly.

• Make money now. Find an avenue where you can start earning money immediately. Network marketing has many opportunities where you can earn right away. Make sure you do your homework on both the company and the people you partner with. Learn what the power of leverage can do for you.

• Find a mentor. Find someone making the money you dream about and in the industry you have an interest in. That mentor has walked in your shoes, has already gone through heart aches, learned by mistakes, and basically is worth whatever they charge to coach with them. You will fast track your way by finding and following their advice.

• Schedule your time. Doing the things you need to do whenever won’t work. Treat this as a real business. Limit or eliminate your distractions. Work only on things that directly increase your income.

• You can never stop learning. Invest in self-development. Doing this will give you confidence, keep you pointed in the right direction. Read books, go to seminars, hang around successful people, and learn leadership, talk to people. This will expand your success and potential.

This list of course is not a comprehensive list of the steps by any means, needed by you, but without these as a minimum, you will find it hard to be your own boss, and will end up going back to your old job.

Vision To Live By – Part Two

May 8th, 2011

So last time we found that the American Dream isn’t what it used to be. We are in the age of over-borrowing, bankruptcy, loss of jobs, and financial instability. You may be staggering with the pressure of keeping your head above water. Trying to forecast what we have in the future can even stump the best of economists so we often find that we are trapped in a fiscal roller coaster that’s run amuck. As I concluded last time, there has to be a better way.

There is good news however. This doesn’t have to be you. Even when times are tough you can provide a safe haven for you and your family. You can free yourself from the mercy of unpredictable markets. But you may be wondering what is this and if it was that easy why isn’t everyone doing it? The main answer is the job myth. We have been led to believe that the only way to get anywhere is by working for someone else. It has been so ingrained into us that even the possibility of not having a job is scary. But having a job in today’s market does not always mean security. If you are relying on a job as your family’s lifeline you may be more vulnerable than you think. The answer?

The answer is your own full or part time business. A business of your own is essential to stability in a tough economy. Since you are your own boss, you can choose the hours you generate business and can still have time for your family and friends. Having extra or replaceable income will give you a piece of mind that a job just can’t guarantee.

One of the taboos that exist is that starting your own business is expensive to start up. It is true that start up costs for a store or restaurant are high but that’s because a brick and mortar building does cost a lot. However, if you start a business that you can start up from home you can significantly reduce your costs.

Another myth is that people don’t buy during recessionary times. This may be true for luxuries but people still have to by essentials such as food and other products that allow them to remain healthy. Remaining healthy is more important during these times because stress can effect your health and we are all too aware of of rising health care costs.

So the bottom line is that the advantages far outweigh any of the other options. Folks, it’s gut check time. Certainly there are fears that you may have to overcome, questions you have to do research on, and decisions you have to make. But remember, what you choose to do and how you do them will effect your future. As the old Rush song says, “Not to choose is still making a choice.”

The ideal business will be one where you collaborate with people you enjoy and can respect. One where the products are in demand now and in the future. One that is in a growing industry. One that is effective. One that is easy to market. One where you can start earning income right from the start.

Are you going to sit back and let politicians and other economic influences dictate your lifestyle and happiness? Are you ready to take control? The unfortunate thing is that most won’t even try. Most will sit back and let life pass them by for 40 hours a week for 40 years only to get their Timex watch and then slowly retire broke on their safe path to their grave. If you’d like to have a brief short conversation about expanding your potential and get on track to help you family’s situation and others, I’d be glad to speak with you. Your family deserves it. Click the Contact Chris up above and leave your phone number. I look forward to speaking with you.

Vision To Live By – Part One

May 3rd, 2011

I had recently got an email from a colleague and in it was contained the phrase:

Teach people how to opt out of the soul sucking grind that robs people’s time, their creative efforts, and keeps them away from their kids, their spouses, their friends, and makes them feel like their lives are dictated by cultural forces that minimize their potential.

Wow, that’s a mouthful. I only wish I would have heard that 30 years ago. So let’s examine this and give it some meaning and some actions items you can do to both escape these chronic conditions and eventually contribute to your brethren by helping them overcome them as well.

This may all sound a bit conspiratorial but consider the terminology that has slopped into our language and you’ll find parallels. The terms “rat race’, “Monday blues”, “living for the weekend”, all come to mind. I’m sure there are many more. Back prior to the industrial revolution of the 1890′s or so, most people either were farmers and lived off the land. The ones living in cities were entrepreneurs and provided products and services to others. Most were also not schooled by the government. They were home schooled and in a turnaround in the 1890′s, government started teaching. The early adopters of modern day government schools were laboratories of mind control training, habits, and attitudes, including consumerism. In the new system, schools were gradually re-formed to meet the pressing need of big businesses to have standardized customers and employees, standardized because such people are predictable in certain crucial ways by mathematical formula. Business (and government) can only be efficient if human beings are redesigned to meet simplified specifications.

As the century wore on, school spaces themselves were opened bit by bit to commercialization. Then mass schooling arenas slowly became impersonal places where children were viewed as HUMAN RESOURCES. Whenever you hear this term, you are certain to be in the presence of employees of the fourth purpose, however unwitting. Human resource children are to be molded and shaped for something called “The Workplace,” even though for most of American history American children were reared to expect to create their own workplaces.

In the new workplace, most Americans were slated to work for large corporations or large government agencies, if they worked at all. This revolution in the composition of the American dream produced some unpleasant byproducts. Since systematic forms of employment demand that employees specialize their efforts in one or another function of systematic production, then clear thinking warns us that incomplete people make the best corporate and government employees.

This was only exacerbated by the advent of banks issuing credit. So we have consumerism being fueled by easy credit, keeping up with the Jones (or at least appearing to), being told to go to college, ($40-$80 dollars more debt), get a good education, work for 40 years to pay back debt, go into more debt with a mortgage ($150-300 dollars more debt), and at the end of it all, retire broke. That’s the plan folks. Most people when they reach the age of 65 have little or no savings and live the rest of their lives subsisting on government. This is hardly the American dream we so much hear about. It is only going to get worse. We have a wave of seniors retiring at a rate of one every 7 seconds for the next 20 years. There simply will not be enough people to support this population. I’m not counting on social security, nor should you.

So many if not most people end up having to change jobs due to many circumstances. To stave off bankruptcy they end up taking jobs they don’t like or enjoy. But they stick with it year after year after year. They get emotionally drained. It is no wonder that depression is growing tremendously. It has been long ingrained into them that they have to continue, pull up their bootstraps, and have a good time whether they like it or not. Of course this isn’t true for everyone. There are rewarding professions, but the consumer debt, taxes, college educations, and cost of living all rise. While they may like their profession, their finances are going to hell. There has to be a better way.

Next time Part Two.

Death By Sugar

May 2nd, 2011

We grew up with an unwavering appetite for sugar. Where is there a kid in the world who does not like candy? There are times, I dare say, that the thirst, hunger, or drive to obtain sugar would have us do anything, lie, cheat, or even steal, to get more. As we grew older most ended up getting cavities in our teeth and having fillings. Later a vast amount of the population started putting fluoride in our drinking water to help our dental health. As outlined in a prior post, what really happened is we were just trading poison.

In the 1700’s the average consumption of sugar in the United States was only 4 pounds or so. In the 1800’s it increased to 19 pounds. Today it’s over 27 pounds. Last year in an OECD report titled, “Obesity and the Economics of Prevention: Fit not Fat“, it found that the United States was the fattest of 33 countries used in the study. It found that 7 of 10 people here in the United States are overweight.

Without a doubt the cause is heavily correlated as a direct result of the consumption of sugar, the effects which fuel a plethora of deadly diseases. Yet conventional medicine keeps ignoring this one basic fact and proposes solutions in the form of a magic pill. What they don’t prescribe is drastically reducing people’s sugar consumption.

You will find sugar in just about everything. Here are some examples. Who doesn’t thing vitamin water is good for them. After all it contains vitamins, right? One 20 ounce bottle contains 33 grams of sugar. That’s more than the sugar contained in 3 Krispy Kreme doughnuts! Healthy? Hardly. At one time or another we feed our kids an Oscar Mayer Lunchable. You’d think ham, cheese, a few crackers, should be iniquitous, right? We’ll it weights in at 36 grams of sugar.

One of the culprits is HFCS (High Fructose Corn Syrup), which is now found in just about all of our processed food. It’s prevalence is so great it is the single largest source of calories for the United States.

I could go on and on about the effects of sugar. Take the time to watch this video presented by Robert H. Lustig, MD, UCSF Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Endocrinology. He explores the damage caused by sugary foods. He argues that fructose (too much) and fiber (not enough) appear to be cornerstones of the obesity epidemic through their effects on insulin. It is a 1hr 30 minute documentary. You will never think about sugar the same again.

Create Your Own Culture

April 21st, 2011

I’m a recovering left brain thinker. If I was a Star Trek character Spock would come to mind. Going online or elsewhere to find and recruit people into your business requires tenacity, smarts, best practices, and even some luck. Bottom line is that you need to network. Now there are a lot of good companies out there. Network marketing has created more millionaires than any other industry. It’s also the entrepreneurs paradise where you get paid strictly on your production. It will either make you or break you. It will expose any weaknesses you may have. Shore them up, and you can become successful. As Jeffrey Combs has said to many people when asked the question, and I’m paraphrasing here, “How much does the average person make in MLM?” he will respond that it’s next to nothing. He’ll say you need to reach and strive above “average”. Above average in your thoughts, dreams, actions, networking, charisma, training, etc is what will lead to success. Most of that list requires right brain thinking. So far so good.

So with all the great companies out there, what differentiates them. Well, not a whole lot. The above average can succeed in just about any of them. What does differentiate them however, is their culture. By culture I mean the access to training and personal development, lead generation, webinars, seminars, edification, reproducibility, mindset, encouragement, and many others. Any good company or organization within a company, should have these. They should have them for free. So company culture can attract a lot of people to an opportunity.

Even more, having a team culture where you have team meetings and events, not necessarily company sponsored is where you can differentiate yourself in both what other companies do but even in your own company. Having your own team contests and bonuses can expand your business volume and growth. But even beyond business, you’ve chosen to work with people who are like minded and are striving for the same types of goals you are. There was something about you. You had something in you that attracted them. Sure they like the opportunity, but they choose you. You see the people you are going into business with and the leaders you surround yourself with also will become just like family. Over the years your families will share, learn, and conquer together. You will see each others families grow. This growth will not only be in business, it will be in just about everything you do. Your finances, family, dreams, and outlooks. You will share things like vacations and travel, fishing, flying, balloon rides, charities, and developing people. Explaining and getting people into their dreamspace, their why, and opening yourself to the possibilities will not only make you better than average, it will allow you to soar with the eagles.

Unconscious Decisions

March 8th, 2011

I was wrong, yup, there I said it. I used to think that my unconscious mind was only used for breathing, heartbeat rate, and other functions that kept me going. So then the conscious mind was reserved for thinking. Boy did I get that wrong!

Underneath our conscious thinking ability we have an incredible thinking and problem solving machine that is operating beneath the conscious level of our awareness. So what does that mean? Well sorry to say, most of the decisions we make are ones that are processed through our unconscious mind before we are even aware of them.

So how can we control what we are not even consciously aware of? And what kind of dialog is going on when we have some conscious thinking going on that does not align with our subconscious? Well I’m no psychologist but I do know that when we are using reason consciously, we will tend to have favor over those factors that we can easily articulate and we then tend to give them more weight than they should deserve. There the one we brought to the dance so to speak. Unfortunately, this can lead to bad decisions. So do you scrap the conscious reasoning? Nope. The conscious reasoning powers that you have are perfect for serial and logical deductive thinking. However, they can’t grasp the parallel processing that usually occurs in your unconscious mind.

What to do? Well this certainly can’t answer all your questions. If I had all the answers I’d be rich. I can tell you this from experience that the things that you are conscious of eventually, if practiced enough will work their way into your subconscious. I also know that the saying, “Garbage In, Garbage Out’, is especially true. You are not going to succeed in something when you are barraged by negative thoughts about an endeavor. If you listen to people who say, “You can’t”, “That won’t work”, or a host of other negative thoughts, they will work their way into your subconscious mind. Likewise, listening to your self-talk when it comes to success and performance, your subconscious can be your friend.

You will become what your put into your mind. Remember, it takes 7-8 positive things to be absorbed into your mind to overcome that 1 bad thing you’ve been told.

Reducing Our Kids IQ’s Daily

January 23rd, 2011

Fluoride is added to around 70% of our water across the United States. It has long been thought to retard the development of cavities. This has been proven not to occur. There is a wave worldwide to stop fluoridation. It’s bad enough that schools are dumbing down our kids education and our kids are needing to be entertained 24/7 with video games and texting.

“This is the 24th study that has found this association, but this study is stronger than the rest because the authors have controlled for key confounding variables and in addition to correlating lowered IQ with levels of fluoride in the water, the authors found a correlation between lowered IQ and fluoride levels in children’s blood. This brings us closer to a cause and effect relationship between fluoride exposure and brain damage in children.”

Paul Connett, Ph.D

The strange thing about this is in the United States, research is being stymied.

One of the earliest animal studies of fluoride’s impact on the brain was published in the U.S. This study by Mullenix et. al (1995) led to the firing of the lead author by the Forsyth Dental Center. “This sent a clear message to other researchers in the U.S. that it was not good for their careers to look into the health effects of fluoride – particularly on the brain,” says Connett.

This highly toxic neurotoxin needs to be eliminated from our water supplies. If this is being done to our children, it is also effecting you as well. There are studies linking Alzheimer’s to fluoride. Here is a site about the Biological Effects of Fluorides.

The next time you get a tube of toothpaste look on the label and you’ll find the warning, “Keep out of the reach of children under six. If more than a pea size amount is swallowed contact your poison control center immediately.” Why? Because sodium fluoride is also used as rat poison.

You can read the article here. Fluoride in Water Linked to Lower IQ in Children

Inspiration, Change, and Happiness

December 12th, 2010

Leo Babauta of zenhabits has an interesting quip in a post called “Get Inspired” about someone enthralled in their passion professing out load on the street corners of San Francisco. He then asks:

How many of us can claim to be that excited about anything we do? If you don’t get excited by what you do, why not? Is it something we can change?

I know Gary Vanerchuck certainly is. I tend to think more like Gary than Leo with this. If it’s something we have to manufacture it isn’t from the heart.

What do you think? (Psst… Great video there as well)
________

Jeremy Day has a post called “Why Is Change So Hard” that everyone knows about but is always hesitant to do anything about. I think most people fear change because they are addicted to their habits and fear change. It would expose their vulnerabilities and embarrass them. This isn’t something they are consciously doing. It has been ingrained into them over their lifetime and and most stems from when they were young. Jeremy has some some sound advise on planning which controls expectations and can help curtail the anticipated apprehensions. I think that examining your past, going through an affirmation program of some type, will also work just as well.

What say you?

Finally, I invite you over to read Tina Su’s blog “Think Simple Now” Tina was recently voted one of the “Top 50 Most Influential Female Bloggers”. Her goal when she started blogging was to bring more happiness in the world. Lofty yes. Did she do it? Head on over and check the site out. She opens up and shares her joys and experiences in life.
