Planning is important as a leader. When it comes to planning you are either an initiator or a reactor. Most people now plan using an electronic calendar. The way you should look at your calendar is not, “Will my calendar be full?’ but “Who will fill my calendar?” If we are leaders of others the question should not be, “Will I see people?” but “Who will I see?” I have noticed that it is leaders that tend to initiate, and followers tend to react. Notice the difference between the two.
So you see, it’s leaders who are taking control and setting their priorities. You do not want to become a slave to the calendar and when you do have to interact with it to manage your priorities you need to be the initiator. Use it wisely to set your priorities. Start planning to plan better.
